Made with charcoal
I'm a user experience designer with coding skills who enjoys creating at the intersection of art and technology. This means I design and build technologies to help people with artistic tasks, such as painting or creative writing. It also means I train machines to be artificially creative (for example, computer generated poetry). I'm particularly interested in making art more accissible to novices.
I also use technology as an artistic medium to spur conversations about technology and society.
I research - I design - I code.
I have a M.S. in Information Management & Systems and a Graduate Certificate in New Media from UC Berkeley. I also hold a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Business Administration from University of Washington.
Prior to my design career, I spent two years working at Ernst & Young (EY) on technology merger & acquisitions, and three years conducting transportation routing behavior research for Washington and Oregon State Departments of Transportation.
Outside of school and work, I'm usually running, skiing, mountaineering, writing poetry, painting, or drawing (see below).
